Christmas Cookies

Gideon helped me decorate some sugar cookies. One fingerful of frosting in the mouth...one in the hair...mouth...hair.

It was good frosting, despite the look on his face.

What are those things?

Maybe no one cares, but when we were flying over Nevada, there were these squares cut into the terrain. I have no idea what they are. If you can tell me, you are the winner!!

Can you see it? It's in the middle right.

Lunch for Kitty

Gideon decided that it was only fair if kitty ate his leftovers. What a giver! (He set these all up himself.) :)

Snow!

We have a little snow baby on our hands. Gideon loves being outside...and even more going down on a sled!

40 before 40

I got this idea from a friend.
This is my to-do list before baby #2 arrives. 40 items in 40 weeks in no particular order.
Seeing as I'm already into the 15th week, (and the fact that Gideon was HUGE, so we may encourage this baby earlier), I've already lost some weeks. So I'm posting some things I've already done just to have something to cross off right away.
I hope since it's public, it'll encourage me to do it.

1-Caulk kitchen counters.
2-Paint dining room and front room trim.
3-Make Swiffer Sweeper covers using this tutorial.
4-Lighten hair.
5-Spend one day doing what Gideon wants to do (except his fight for "no-naps!")
6-Dust fans and air vent.
7- Find deals on kids clothes at consignment sale.
8-Steam clean carpets and couches.
9-Wash baby clothes.
10-Install closet organizer.
11-Get lots of books at library sale!
12-Buy sandbox and play with Gideon for hours in it. (Tristan nixed the sandbox for now.)
13-Dig out flowers in front.
14-Rearrange kids room with toddler bed.
15-Redo front garden with potted flowers.
16-Sew zippers on pillows.
17-Get Gideon to sleep in a toddler bed.
18-Plant grass seed/sod in places.
19-Take a family picture.
20-Make freezer dinners.
21-Get filling done on tooth. Ugghh!
22-Date night with Tristan to see Christmas lights.
23-Organize garage.
24-Hang shades in front room and dining room.
25-Closet organizer in Gideon's room.
26-Organize recipes.
27-Update maternity wardrobe with things that are actually in style.
28-Jamba Juice night.
29-Get flu shot.
30-Make a green breakfast. (I've always wanted to for St. Patty's Day.)
31-Finish reading the Book of Mormon.
32-Sew zippers on pillows.
33-Start indexing for family history.
34-Get emergency kits for both cars.
35-Buy comfortable slip-on shoes.
36-Spot clean rug.
37-Put together "The Brain."
38-Convince Gideon that nursery is fun so I can go to Sunday School.Wahoo! Thanks Johnsons and Youngs!
39-Get a houseplant and keep it alive for longer than a month.
40-Deep clean refrigerator/freezer.

Random pictures

I've just placed 6 updates. Can you believe it?! Only because G is watching Finding Nemo or "Me-mo".
G's favorite past time...playing in the hamper and hiding in the bathroom.

Thinks climbing over and under the table legs is an adventure!

Done withe blueberries, Mom! He lets me know by putting the bowl on his head.

Loves to color. I discovered crayon wipes off whiteboard. (thank goodness!)

Halloween

We went to a friends house to celebrate Halloween. We carved pumpkins.

G was dressed to the nines for the occasion.

The most he would do is stick his hand in the pumpkin. Not even a seed would he touch.

So we carved....

And he watched Finding Nemo with his beloved "muk" (milk)

Our pumpkins.

Trick or treating with mom and dad! (We were the only ones out!)

Knocking. He'd yell something at this point. I presume in gibberish it was trick or treat.

What candy?

Exhausted after a long fun day!

Our Reader

This kid loves books!!

OH! He caught me. Sorry for the fuzzy picture.

Shoes

Because of these shoes, I wanted G to be Tristan for Halloween. I couldn't find scrubs small enough.

Ward Trunk or Treat

Our little pirate. Doesn't he look thrilled? This was the only picture I could get with his bandana on.

Once G figured out trick or treating, he loved it! Enough that he even tried to trick or treat out of others bags. He couldn't have cared less about the candy, he just likes to hoard things.

At the Zoo

I love the zoo in the fall. Kids are in school, the animals are out. It's not sweltering outside.

Notice the lioness? She charged Gideon right after I took this picture. All the other moms screamed but I was sad because I didn't have the camera rolling. She stared him down but he was too busy looking at a rock to notice. I'll tell you what, they are HUGE!!

Making sure all the lions get hugs and kisses.

At the Park

My cute boy.

His favorite thing. Dirt.

The last 2 months

Hi, my name is Tricia and I'm a blog slacker.

We took a trip to Moberly, MO a few weeks ago to see my brother, sister-in-law and their kids. We had so much fun! G with his cousin Kate.

Watching daddy fish.

How G spent most of the trip home. Thank goodness!

Tristan got a really early Christmas present this year. It's a bicycle trainer. (Turns your bike into a stationary bike.)

Gideon and I got colds that lasted forever! Finally on a good day we ventured out to the lake. Gideon loved exercising with the ducks. I'm pretty sure they loved it and can't wait for us to come back.

We're in need of more seating in our living room and shopped around for some sofas. Gideon quickly found his seat and turned a 2 seater into a 3 seater. After the picture was taken he promptly tipped the whole couch over.

On an outing to Best Buy, G couldn't get enough of himself being broadcast over a tv.

"Why don't you come in, Mommy"?

Today was the day I was going to clean the whole house! Looking back, I should have not started with the garbage. But I did. I emptied all the cans in the house and took them outside, shutting the door behind me as I have always done, so little munchkin boy wouldn't run into the street, as he always does.
Upon returning to the door, I turned the handle and it was BOLTED SHUT!!!! My son is old enough to understand the lock is fun to play with, but has no concept of the word "Unlock". I discovered this because I said it probably 13,786 times with no response. Perhaps by some miracle I had left the kitchen door unlocked! Yeah right! I live in an old creepy neighborhood and am too persistent that all closed doors should be locked. There was a probably a backlog of prayers to heaven at this point.
Son inside crying. Mother outside beginning to panic. No shoes. No phone. No keys (of course. Then this would be a stupid post.) No neighbors home to use their phones. Curse you working productive neighbors!
There is a hammer in the garage! Well, there should be but I can't find the hammer anywhere. I'm sure I'm mumbling something about tools being where they should be at this point. So I open all the drawers I can. A hatchet! The kitchen door has small panes of glass. I'll just break a little one and reach in. Son is still at front door crying so I hurry to the kitchen. Don't want little feet on glass. With all my might I swing. BANG! Dang puny muscles! BANG BANG BANG!!!! What is this made of?!!!
So I come back with the sledgehammer. Pretty sure anyone who drives by and sees crazy woman running around the house with hatchet and sledge hammer and peering in the windows is going to call the cops. I could only hope the such help would come. I take one great big swing and THWACK! Seriously! Shocked how loud it is and how little it does. Why DOESN'T someone call the cops?!!! Well, obviously this window is made of some super material not found on earth.
Go back to front door and rattle the door hoping that it will shimmy the bolt loose and it will pop open. Bolts are known for those flaws. Right?! Okay, made it up. Consequence: shaking the door scares son. He tries to hide in bottom basket of stroller and gets stuck so begins to wail louder.
Meanwhile I yell through the doorcrack, "Open the door! Turn the button!" Somehow he escapes his trap and I see the door handle twist and he yells "Momma!" and knocks.
So I make my way to the back window and decide which will go. The single paned dining room window where I'm sure he'll come running over broken glass, but easier to clean up since it's tile? Or the already busted from the hail bedroom window that is double paned and harder to clean carpet?
Just as I'm taking one last look through the window whose fate had been decided I take a peek to the inside front door. Somehow, in his panic, my little toehead was trying to help mommy and unbolted the front door.
I run around the house to the front and turn the handle. It opens! Another swarm of prayers to heaven. The G comes running and I decide I don't feel like cleaning the house anymore. Maybe another day.

Thomas

There are so many reasons I love this picture. I love the little footprints from Gideon. I love that he is petting our old dog Thomas. I love that this was taken before Thomas had to be put down. I'm sure they would have been great friends.

Bear Lake

We visited Bear Lake last week and it was beautiful and a most welcome visit with family.

Cousins are the funniest!

On the paddle boat with Daddy and Mommy. I succumbed to the princess lifejacket. Okay, I didn't notice.

I could run in the water, play in the sand and eat the sand to my hearts content! It took only one taste to decide that sand was for playing, not consuming.

I love reading stories with Grandpa! He reads the best.

A picture of the crew! Sadly we were missing my brother and his pregnant wife and kids. :(

If you would like to duplicate this carefully crafted facial design, run at full speed along sand and then face plant.

One of those rare pictures of Mommy!

Another one!! How lucky are we!!!

We had a birthday celebration for all the August birthdays. I just love the balloons!
